Summary: This takes place two and a half years after the movie

will be capable of human touch thanks to a new mutant at Xavier's
school, but it can only work on one person. Who will she choose?

except
for Zack Higgins.

SOMEWHERE IN CANADA

I dream of her all the time. I can't get her out of my head.
It's
been two and a half years and she dominates my every thought. Jean
told me right before I left that she was taken by me. I tried to
deny it, shrug it off, but what everyone was unaware of is that I was
taken by her as well. Now, I can't stand to be away from her any
longer. She's the only home I've ever known.
I hop on my motorcycle, well, it's not my motorcycle, and head
southeast to Rogue, to my home. I wonder if she still has my dog
tags, if she thinks of me as often as I think of her. It doesn't
matter. All that matters now is going home to Rogue.

XAVIER'S SCHOOL FOR GIFTED YOUTH ??A.M.

I pull up to the gate, and I'm surprised when it opens
immediately. I pull the bike up to the door and get off only to see
Professor Xavier sitting in the doorway with a blank look on his face
as he says, "Welcome home Logan. We need to talk."
I follow the professor into his office a little
annoyed, "Professor, I don't see any reason for us to talk
now. You
can read my mind. You know that I haven't found anything, only
dead
ends. Now can we make this quick. I want to see Rogue."
The Professor sighs, "Logan, I didn't bring you in here to
discuss what you found because yes, I already know. I brought you in
here to discuss Rogue. A lot has happened to her in the last twenty-
four hours, and I think you need to be aware of it."
I was now at full attention at the mention of Rogue's name,
concern filled my voice, "What happened?"
"A new student came to the school today named Zack Higgins.
His mutation is very unique. He's a telepath, but he can also
can
switch on and off a mutation."
"What does this have to do with Rogue?" I asked.
"He can help her. By using his mutation, he can switch off
Rogue's mutation for one person. She'll be able to touch one
person,
and only that person, for the rest of her life without harming
them."
I couldn't believe it. I would be able to touch Rogue if she
chose me. I would be able to hold her, kiss her, make love to her.
But, did she choose me? I haven't seen her in two years. With
my
heart in my hands I asked the question I needed an answer from,
"Who
did she choose?"
Professor Xavier smiled sadly, "She didn't. She doesn't
know
who to choose Logan. Jean tells me that when she talked to her
earlier today it was between Bobby Drake and you. Jean thinks
she's
going to choose the one she loves, and she loves you Logan, but Bobby
has been there for her these last couple of years, and he loves her,
and will make her happy."
I couldn't take this anymore, I had to see her now. "Where
is she?" I said rather gruffly.
"She's in her room Logan. Leave her be for tonight.
You'll
see her in the morning. Why don't you get some rest? Your room
is
just how you left it."
I nodded and began to leave his office. I was almost out the
door when I heard his voice again, "Oh, and Logan, this is
Rogue's
life. Let her choose who's best for her, even if it isn't
you."
With that I walked out of his office and went up to my old
room, where I put down my things. I needed to get out to clear my
head for a bit. I needed to prepare to see Rogue. I looked over at
the clock on the nightstand before I left my room. It was 3 A.M.
I made my way downstairs, and was heading toward the kitchen to grab
something to eat when I felt a cool breeze hit my face. I looked in
the direction it was coming from and saw the door, which led to the
porch, wide open, and a figure looking out over the garden. I
couldn't make the person out from that far away so I proceeded
toward
the figure. I was about fifty feet away when a familiar scent
assaulted my nostrils. "Rogue." I whispered to myself. My
pace
quickened to almost a jog until I was directly behind her. She
looked deep in thought when I leaned over in a low whisper, "Miss
me
Rogue?"
She turned around immediately. She had grown up. She was even more
beautiful than I remembered. She looked up at me with those
beautiful brown eyes with disbelief as she said my name,
"Logan?"
I smiled hearing her voice say my name, and reassured her I was here
to stay, "Yeah, it's me Rogue. I couldn't stay away any
longer. I
needed to come home to you."
She smiled brightly at me after a few moments and said, "I missed
you."
My heart was pounding so fast I felt like it was going to
explode. "I missed you too."
She smiled at my last words. "So, did you find anything on your
trip."
I frowned, but shrugged it off, "No, just a lot of dead ends, but
I'm
not going to dwell on the past, I'm only looking forward to my
future, here."
She broke eye contact with me and turned around looking out toward
the garden, "Have you talked to anyone since you've been
back?"
"Yeah, I talked to the professor when I arrived an hour ago. We
talked about my trip, and then we talked about your decision."
Her shoulders sank and she said sadly, "Oh, so you know about
that."
I grabbed her covered arm and turned her around to face me.
"Yeah I
know, and I couldn't be happier for you. You deserve this. You
deserve to be happy. You need to make the choice that's right
for
you, and take all the time you need to make it."
She smiled at me with tears glistening in her eyes. I wanted so much
to reach out to her and kiss those tears away. My thoughts were
interrupted by her voice, "I have something for you." She
pulled out
my dog tags that were tucked under her blouse.
"I can't believe you're still wearing them." Shock
apparent
in my voice.
She laughed a bit. "Yeah I haven't taken them off since you
gave them to me."
She started to pull the chain off but I grabbed her covered hand to
stop her. She looked up at me with a questioning look. "Keep
them
for me, ok." I said with a tender smile.
She let go of the chain, and then yawned. "I think I'm
goin' to go
to bed. I need to get some sleep."
I nodded. "Yeah, you do. You have a lot on your mind. You need
your rest."
She walked past me and headed inside. "I'll see you tomorrow
Logan."
"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow." I paused for a second
then spoke once
again. "And Rogue??p;quot; She turned around and looked into my
eyes. "You know I meant what I said."
She gazed at me, "What's that?"
"I'll take care of you."
She smiled shyly remembering the promise I made to her on the train
two and a half years ago, and walked into the house leaving me
alone. I looked out at the garden and whispered, "I'll take
care of
you till the day I die if you let me." I looked out once more at
the
beautiful scenery that lay before me, and turned around and headed to
bed for the night.
